USAutomotive, the UK's premier supplier of aftermarket components for American cars of all ages, is to field a mighty 565 bhp Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the recently announced Anglo American Stock Car Racing (ASCAR) championship.

The potent saloon - a close cousin of a NASCAR racer but with a composite GRP/Kevlar body - will be driven by experienced historic F1 racer Steve Hitchins. In fact, Hitchins is so smitten with the series that his F1 JPS Lotus racing days may be over.

Hitchins is no stranger to American V8 power, having campaigned his Shelby Cobra for over 20 years in historic racing. More recently he co-drove a Shelby Daytona Coupe to a fine 3rd place finish at the Goodwood revival meeting.

"I'm looking for a fresh challenge and the anticipated 35 car grids coupled to the sight and sound of over 15,000 horsepower has me really hooked - though drafting on the banking will be something else," mused Steve.

"We are all excited at the prospect of seeing a USAutomotive backed car in the pack on the Rockingham high-speed oval next year," enthused USAutomotive's Pete Stafford. "The series fits in perfectly with our marketing plans and will provide tremendous visibility for our company and our partners - it was too good an opportunity to miss."

USAutomotive was formed in 1997 by two partners with over 40 years experience in the American aftermarket parts business between them. Today it is arguably the most efficient and fastest growing American parts business in the UK.

USAutomotive and Hitchins are now looking forward to the official test days at Donington Park on April 13th and 26th, when the cars will be revealed to the 20-plus drivers already signed up for the series.
