Within weeks of being unveiled at the 1999 Autosports International Show, ASCAR attracted major backing from one of British motor sport's biggest supporters.

MINTEX unveiled a long-term commitment to the series by announcing that it will be the title sponsors of ASCAR for the next five years, with drivers competing for the MINTEX CUP.

Launching its support of the category, MINTEX Aftermarket Director, Graham Ranger, said, "MINTEX has had a substantial involvement in motor sport from the very first days of motor racing, and a significant profile in recent years through major national rally sponsorship. Banked oval speedway racing is a spectacular form of motor sport and MINTEX is convinced this marks an exciting new era in British motor racing."

The news was greeted by a delighted ASCAR Managing Director, Mike Schmidt, who said, "ASCAR is proud to announce this five year title sponsorship deal with MINTEX which demonstrates both our commitment to the long-term future of the series and the confidence shared by the BBA Friction Group in the success of ASCAR. The entire motor sport industry and all of its fans will be watching as the first season of banked oval racing in Britain since the demise of Brooklands, gets underway at Rockingham in 2001."

ASCAR race organisation will be the responsibility of the BARC. Their Chief Executive, Dennis Carter commented "I have already said that ASCAR is set to be a major feature of British motor sport and this sponsorship agreement serves to confirm that. We as a club are looking forward to working closely with MINTEX and ASCAR to ensure that their goals are achieved."
