At the ASCAR (Anglo-American Stock Car Racing Ltd) conference yesterday, it was revealed that two of the 10 championship rounds on next year's calendar have been confirmed as the major support race for the visiting Fed-ex ChampCar series races.*
The announcement which was only confirmed yesterday morning will see the 565bhp ASCAR saloons take centre stage prior to the top American single seater series at the Euro Speedway Lausitz on the weekend of September 14/15 and then at the Rockingham Motor Speedway the following weekend September 21/22.
"We are absolutely thrilled at the prospect of supporting the Fed-Ex ChampCar series and this is a fantastic boost for the prestige of ASCAR, explained ASCAR Managing Director Mike Schmidt.
The projected attendance figures for these two races alone have been anticipated as exceeding the total attendance figures for any other UK saloon car racing championship in the UK.
