The ASCAR team had the Mintex liveried Monte Carlo out on the track for a general test at Donington Park today (26/04). The test was to evaluate components and also try various setups with springs and dampers and was held in mixed conditions with a wet morning session and drier afternoon. The morning session saw test driver Mike Jordan running on Hoosier cut slicks before changing to a Goodyear Eagle Stock Car slick as the track dried in the afternoon. As Mike's lap times dropped to a consistent 1m 16s and the track dried, the team decided to try a softer compound Goodyear and he was soon down to the 1m 14s mark.

Race Engineer, Paul Eaton, said that the team were really pleased with the way the test went and the way things are progressing. They believe the car and components will be extremely well sorted before the drivers and teams signed up to race in next years series get their machines. Test driver Mike Jordan is also upbeat with the way things are shaping up and he is looking forward to racing the car in anger next year.

As well as testing the car ASCAR MD Mike Schmidt was on hand, along with sponsors, to talk to prospective drivers and also to the numerous teams and drivers already committed to the series, about the plans and developments so far. At the moment there are 18 confirmed sales and almost the same again serious enquiries. With only 40 cars available if you are interested and want information you can contact ASCAR at the address on the website contact page.

Also a big thank you to Paula for providing refreshments during the day.
