Former British Touring Car champion John Cleland will race in next year's inaugural ASCAR series, as team boss of a new two-car squad, it was revealed in Autosport this week.
The Scot has created Cleland Speed Sport with historic F1 ace Bob Berridge, and will take part in Britain's new oval-based stock car racing championship.
Cleland, who raced in the British GT championship this season, has quit sportscars to try American-style racing in Europe.
"I thought I'd get a buzz out of the British GT series, but it wasn't quite what I thought it would be," said Cleland. "I think what ASCAR is planning for spectators will be awesome, and is something that the public will warm to," he said.
